Nelson Delivers 38th WNY C-Leg

This past month Nelson Prosthetic & Orthotic Laboratory provided its 7th C-LEG to a patient living in the WNY area. The C-LEG is a state of the art microprocessor controlled knee that has the ability to provide instantaneous knee stability in the event an Above Knee amputee missteps or stumbles. It further provides astonishingly easy knee flexion for less energy consumption during walking. Force and angle sensors within the knee and shin of this system send information to an internal processor that determines the most efficient knee movement for any given set of variables. The knee must first be programmed with a computer by a C-Leg certified practitioner. All of Nelson's certified prosthetic practitioners have received certification in the C-Leg.

The C-Leg was designed for and is recommended for patients who have the potential to achieve a high activity level. Currently, almost every insurance company requires an extensive amount of documentation supporting the need for this high tech knee before they will approve this device. Nelson Prosthetic & Orthotic Laboratory offers free consultations to patients who are interested in pursuing this remarkable knee system
